Life skills are learned through dance classes; social skills, self-confidence, creativity, learning to be part of a team and being comfortable with one's physical ability, no matter what level. The children will learn to dance, learn dance terminology and a foundation of moving properly as part of their dance education. If you are looking for a fun class, this is the class for your dancer.
The class desciption says "ballet", our style is more "pop ballet". Dancing to popular music vs. a whole class of old school style of teaching with piano music and strictly classical.
We call it "pop dance" because that is what the kids call this style of dance. Think of it as "hip hop lite" fun video style dancing that is age and song appropriate. Our routines and costumes are always "grandma approved".
The children will learn dance terminology as part of their dance education and foundation of moving properly. We make learning to dance fun and it is not only a great way for kids to get energy and good for fitness, teachers encourage the kids to keep dancing at home too!
The kids of this age will enjoy learning 2 routines for a Performance Recital in the Fall Session and 2 more for the Winter Session. The short Spring Session and Summer Session the kids will be inviting family and friends on the last day of class.
The class length is 50 minutes to keep the child engaged and practice classroom listening with instructions from the teacher. We break the class up with a game or freeze dance to give the kids and chance to relax so they can get back to focusing during class. The kids will also learn technique through "across the floor" movements and work on refining gross motor skills.
