TWO LEFT FEET was created in July 2001 to give people the chance to dance, have fun and move ballroom dance into the new millinium.
Our motto is "Laugh wih Us, Dance with Us." The Two Left Feet philosophy is for students to enjoy themselves in a relaxed environment with a focus on social dancing. We believe, especially in the D.C. area people compete during work, while driving and are constantly racing the clock. We want to create an environment to de-stress, have a mini-vacation and enjoy a laugh while making friends.
We have a unique offering, to teach all age dancers at our dance studio. There are separate kids, teens, adult and senior programs for ballroom dancing, which no other ballroom studio includes.
You could be the next foot...want to join our dance teacher team?

I enjoy dancing and sharing that joy with others. The most fun is being able to teach people who know nothing about ballroom dancing and help them change, grow and develop into dancers. I wanted to create a place where people did not feel that they had to compete with other students or even themselves.
My teaching style and the dance studio create an atmosphere where you can come relax, have a great time and always feel welcome. Fun is our focus and you may learn to dance too.
Our business model was created by listening to our students and creating a new niche market to give them what they have been asking for. All our classes are for fun, not based on competition. We offer all classes a la carte, so students are not purchasing gigantic packages, that most other studios are familiar with. We want our students to be comfortable and make well informed decisions, as getting into a dance education and training can take a lot of time and money. We believe we have the best easy-to-understand instruction, especially for beginners and those who feel two left footed.
My Advice - keep dancing and keep smiling, it's contagious.

In the early eighties, my interest in martial arts led me to competitions and demonstrations in the Mid Atlantic area. I was an avid competitor for several years and after I retired from tournament competition, I taught Tae Kwon Do in the Jhoon Rhee system for ten years. During that time I was introduced to Martial Ballet where martial art forms were combined with classical music, such as Beethoven's Fifth Symphony. This combination of music and martial art forms helped me to better understand rhythm, timing and movement. I discovered that there many similarities between dancing and martial arts so the transition was natural and as an added benefit, my dance partners rarely gave me bruises.
With out question, the Salsa is my favorite dance. I find the music to be fun, up tempo and I never tire of the lyrics. To my ear, the voices are another instrument in the song. The music never grows old. The Salsa provides great opportunity to be creative and have fun. People smile when they dance Salsa.
I want students to have as much fun as I do. I teach social dancing with an emphasis on enjoying every minute. A teacher of mind once referred to dance as joyful recreation and that phrase really made sense to me and I want my students to have joyful recreation in their lives. I have always believed that knowing how to dance was a desirable social skill and part of being a gentleman. There is no reason to feel embarrassed or incompetent. You can do it too and validate your "man card" at the same time.
At TwoLeftFeet Dance, we can provide you with as much or as little detail as you would like. We provide instruction at your pace and work hard to ensure that you enjoy the process. Laugh with us Dance with us is our motto and we live by it.
Dancing is easier than you may think. There are many subtle benefits, such as communication skills, improved posture and confidence. It is a skill that you can enjoy the rest of your life. How wonderful do you think it is when you are at a wedding or other social event and see a senior couple dancing together? I always imagine that they have had countless moments of joyful recreation together. Who deserves that more than you?

Naomi Joy
Naomi Joy started dancing when she was a child, and as she grew up she explored a variety of dances from Ballroom and Latin to Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern, and different international dances. She has performed at places such as Burn Brea Dinner Theater and the Kennedy Center Theater Lab, where she was given the privilege of choreographing her own dance.
Naomi joined Two Left Dance in March of 2005 and has loved every minute of it. She enjoys dancing and teaching all smooth and rhythm dances, but especially likes dancing the Cha Cha. “The Cha Cha”, as she would say, “has a speed that allows dancers to incorporate a variety of graceful styling while maintaining the spunky, upbeat rhythm of a Latin dance.”
Naomi’s loves dancing in all of it forms. “Dance is one of the most beautiful arts. It displays the most pure form of human expression, beyond what can be written in a story or painted in a picture. Dance can be choreographed or created “live,” it can be random or structured, lively or dramatic, smooth or rhythmic-there is no right or wrong!”
As an instructor, Naomi encourages all her students to learn at their own pace. “No matter what dance you are learning or what ‘level’ you consider yourself, enjoy the experience. Everyone has a unique way of learning, and that is what makes all of us unique as dancers. There is no better place to learn, then an environment where we can learn from each other and have fun while doing so! As a beginner, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed with ‘all there is to learn.’ The beauty in dancing, especially social dancing, is that you never stop learning. There is always something fun to learn and discover. As a teacher, I want our students to enjoy dancing both inside and outside class. Take what you’re learning, break it down, rebuild it, make it your own, but most of all, have fun!"
